- “Is gummy smile the same as lip flip?”
- No. A lip flip is placed along the upper lip so the lip rolls outward. Gummy smile treatment relaxes the muscle that lifts the upper lip, so less gum shows when you smile. Your nurse can tell you which one fits what you want.
- “Where do you inject with the lip flip?”
- Along the upper lip, very shallowly, in a few small points.
- “Does it affect movement of the lips?”
- It can if the dose is too high. Drinking through a straw or pronouncing some sounds can be harder for a while. It is uncommon and wears off. This is why a first lip flip starts at 4 units.
- “Does the lip flip last three months?”
- Usually less. A lip flip uses a small dose and tends to wear off sooner than other Xeomin areas, which typically last 3 to 4 months.
- “Are we able to do any numbing on the lip?”
- We use ice and a vibration tool for comfort. A lip flip is only a few small points.
