Most people add it to a forehead, 11s or masseter appointment. It is not an age thing. Plenty of people in their 20s get it, and so do people in their 50s.

How your provider decides

  1. Your provider asks you to tense your neck, to see where the muscle pulls and whether you have bands.
  2. Then asks what matters more to you: a slimmer jawline or a more defined one.
  3. Places small, shallow doses along the jawline, adjusted for each side. If Xeomin will not get you what you want, your provider will say so.

What to expect

  • The effect is subtle, not a facelift. It tends to build with repeat sessions.
  • Visible vertical neck bands are treated separately at $60 a band.

Possible side effects

  • Temporary neck weakness or an uneven lower lip when smiling. It is uncommon and wears off.
  • Small bumps, redness or bruising at the injection sites.
  • Contact us right away if swallowing or breathing feels harder than usual.

“What is the Nefertiti neck?”
Small doses of Xeomin along the jawline. The neck muscle attaches there and pulls the lower face down. Easing that pull gives the jawline more definition and a slight lift.
“How does that differ from the platysmal one?”
It is the same muscle. A Nefertiti lift is placed along the jawline. Platysmal band treatment goes into the vertical cords on the front of the neck. Many people do both.
“Does that lift it or just define it?”
Mostly definition, with a slight lift. If you want a slimmer lower face too, your provider may suggest adding masseter.
“Will I see any effect?”
It is subtle. Judge it at 2 weeks, not before. Many people notice more with repeat sessions.
“Would it be kind of aggressive for the first time?”
It is a small, shallow dose, typically 20 units in total. If it is your first time, your provider can start at the lower end.
“Does the neck one hurt?”
It can be a little spicy. The injections are quick and shallow, and we use ice and a vibration tool.
“The creases in my neck. What can you do?”
A Nefertiti lift works on the muscle, not the skin. For fine creases, ask about neck Dermatoxin, a shallow spread of Xeomin across the neck.
